Free Beer!

The arrival of spring saw the return of grady sizemore to the field. This was a great sight for all Indians fans...not just the females. Tribe celebrated by getting a pair of wins this weekend, 10-7 over the Angels and a 5-3 rout of the Diamondbacks reminding them that yes, Arizona is the worst state in the union.

Grady went 0-2 in his debut, Travis Buck continued to lit it up this spring with 2 more hits and a homer this wknd, and Luis Valbuena cemented his roster spot with the triple-a team by hitting a homer. Shelley Duncan chipped in with a homer and 3 rbi.

Cavs dropped a 100-92 decision to the Clippers. JJ led the way for the Cavs with 28 and Ramon added 18. Baron didn't suit up due to back spasms. Blessings upon his back.

My brackets...not so good, but I still have two Final Four teams left: Ohio State and UConn.

May I See Your Brackets?

Cavs split a pair of games this week out west. Pounded the Kings 97-93, and fell to the Blazers by a mere margin on 41 points. The good guys take on Billy Crystal's LA Clippers this afternoon. Ramon threw in 20 and JJ added 17 against the Kings. Ramon led they way again with 14 and Boobie chipped in 12 against Greg Oden's Blazers. We are holding strong at 13-54 and are close to clinching the most ping-pong balls in the lottery.

Tribe fell to the Reds 5-1 and to the Royals 6-5. Bats woke up to wale on the Twins 12-6 in tonight's game. In left side of the infield news, Mr. Chisenhall had 2 more hits against the Royals and Asdrubal went deep against the Twins.

I went a solid 24-8 in the round of 64. I have all my final four teams intact, and 7 of the elite 8 still alive. So, boom!

vacation, an update and final 4 picks

i went on vacation this past week so i apologize to my reader for not posting witty observations for over a week...but anyways, here we go:

since last week:
cavs went 0-2 making their record 12-53. sadly, we are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs
team leaders: baron 18 ppg, andy 9.7 rpg, baron 5.7 apg
tip-off vs mitch richmond's sacramento kings any minute now

indians went 3-2-1 making their spring training record 00-00
pretty good: lonnie chisenhall 11-23, .478, .913 slugging; chad huffman 10-22, .455, 4 rbi
not great: 2 of my favorites...sweet lou marson 2-16 .125 and matty laporta 6-38, .158

my guaranteed to be correct final four: ohio state, pitt, uconn, and my sleeper...purdue. then ohio state will beat pitt in the finals. so there ya go...take that to the bank

Few losses in AZ, Cavs back-to-back and NBA Playoff preview

Rough few days for the Tribe in Arizona as they dropped a 16-5 decision to the DBacks and fell to the Padres today 9-2. Fausto and Co. got roughed up by Arizona, but Mr. Chisenhall continued to boost his odd to make the big team with 4 more hits. In today's loss Luis Val bopped a homer and Carlos had a double...a welcome sight.

Cavs fell to the Warriors last night 95-85. Cavs were led by Baron's 19 but we will not have Mr. Davis tonight against the Bucks b/c his grandmother passed away.

In my attempt to understand all major sports, here are the nba playoff matchups if the season started today. (however, i do not believe the playoffs start today)

West East
1 Spurs v. 8 Grizz 1 Celts v. 8 Pacers
2 Mavs v. 7 Hornets 2 Bulls v. 7 Sixers
3 Lakers v. 6 Blazers 3 Heat v. 6 Knicks
4 Thunder v. 5 Nuggets 4 Magic v. 5 Hawks

Cavs are holding steady with the worst record in the league and the Clippers (whose pick we now own) has the 8th worst record in the league

MLB predictions and lots o' runs

Mark this day on your calendars, because today, the 7th of March, I will pick all 8 MLB playoff teams and I will be proven correct.

AL East: Yanks. In my opinion, this is the last year for the Bombers. Jeter and A-Rod are running out of big seasons, Cano won't be as good this year, but CC still scares me
AL Central: Tribe. People may laugh at this, but i am telling you, we were much improved in the 2nd half and getting another year of experience for our youngins will help. PLUS we are getting Grady and Santana back for a whole season
AL West: Rangers, I really like their lineup. PREDICTION: Hamilton 40 hr and 120 rbi
AL Wild Card: Red Sox, first I hate Boston and all they stand for, but they will be good this year

NL East: Phils, they are good. They do not have a #1 starter though, they have 4.
NL Central: Reds, my ohio ties may be swaying me here, but they have lots of young talent carried over from last year's playoff team.
NL West: Giants. Reason A: I love watching Lincecum. B: I wrote about my beard fetish in my last post, and Brian Wilson has a sweet one.
NL Wild Card: Braves, they always seem to sneak in the playoffs despite the fact that i can not name 3 current Braves.

Indians made out with their sister today 16-16 with the Chicago White Sox. Luis Valbuena helped his cause to make big league team with 2 homeruns and canadian Nick Weglarz also homered for the Tribe. A young man named Ezequiel Carrera collected 3 hits against the hated Sox.

Beards, John Threebler, and a Seneca

Cavs fell to the Trevor Ariza-led Hornets 98-81. We were led by Baron with 17 and JJ splitting 30 evenly with Ramon Sessions.

Tribe fell 3-1 to Walt Weiss' Colorado Rockies despite Chisenhall swatting his 2nd homer of the spring and raising his spring average to .467, I think. The odds on Lonnie hitting above .450 this season are currently 2 to 1.

Buckeyes thumped Wisconsin today 92-63. I love Gus Johnson but he seemed rather disheartened that we did not win by 50 as Sullinger said was today's goal. Buckeyes are and will be a very formidable opponent.

I want to talk about something very near and dear to my heart...facial hair. The newest Cav, Baron Davis has a fine beard that is both dignified and frightening. I will admit to being a grown child with pre-pubescent qualities, not being able to grow a beard, and crying myself to sleep for not being able to emulate many great bearded Americans, such as Baron Davis, Zach Galifinakis, Bea Arthur, and Abraham Lincoln.

Browns signed Seneca Wallace, a great #2 QB. I adore young Seneca, but I hope Colt will be so great that Seneca never sees the field.

A Team Divided and A Battle in the Congo

The Tribe split their squad today to face off against Eddie Vedder's Seattle Mariners and Jon Favreau's Chicago White Sox. Tribe pounded the Sox 8-3 thanks to David Huff and were humbled by the M's 7-2. Today's notable hitting studs were TCU legend Chad Huffman who went 3 for 3 with 2 runs scored and Travis Hafner who swatted 2 hits.

Am I concerned the Indians have split up? No, I hear this type of thing is common in the spring.

Cavs earned a well-deserved day off after their 119-115 annihilation of the Knickerbockers and will take on Harry Connick Jr.'s New Orleans Hornets tomorrow night in a battle for the ages between Democratic Republic of Congo legends Didier Iiunga-Mbenga and Christian Eyenga.

Carmelo equals carsucko

Cavs won tonight 119-115, no big deal.......but it was in MSG, boo yeah. We elevated our record to 12-49, no fear though, we are still in line to get as many ping-pong balls as possible. JJ had 23 points, Baron threw in 18 in his Cavs debut, and the great white hope luke harangody added 18.

meanwhile in goodyear, the tribe have gone 1-1 this wk with an 11-9 loss to the rangers and a monumental 6-2 win over the pathetic rockies to push our record to 2-2. Lonnie Chisenhall, 3b of the future, hit one out today. Little Matty LaPorta had a grand slam as our bullpen gagged away the loss to the rangers in the bottom of the 9th

good so far: infielders named cabrera...asdrubal .429 and orlando .500
bad so far: brantley 1 for 10; matt laps 2 for 14

Diebler just made another 3

Mr. Diebler made 10 3s for a nifty 30 pts against the putrid nittany lions of penn state. it was never real close as the buckeyes improved to 28-2 with the 82-61 win.

the boys of spring, your cleveland indians split a pair of game since i last said things to you with a 2-1 pummeling of the dodgers and a 4-3 loss to the oakland a's. drew pomeranz looked good, but austin kearns got charged with dui which was bad. i would like to say d'oh to that. i will address the masses after i watch the cavs rout spurs.

carlos santana is 1-3 with a single this spring.
